I was born with short fingers and toes at birth. A doctor told me when I was a child I may never be able to run. He was wrong. Over the course of my life, I have battled bullies, physical limitations, obesity, low self-esteem, and everything in between. I won't say I've figured it all out, but I will say I've overcome a lot. And that's really what it's all about. I became a personal trainer after losing 30lbs, discovering fitness, and turning my life around. I started CrossFit and eventually coaching because I believe in CrossFit's incredible ability to do two amazing things: Give us the functional skills to combat aging and win at life, and build the best communities I've ever been a part of.
The turning point of my life is having children. One day, out of nowhere, I wasn't the most important person in my world anymore. And it set me on a path that defined the rest of my life. I wasn't just becoming healthy and fit for me. I was also doing it for them. And by association, for all the other parents out there whose lives I can change.
I could easily have just stayed an athlete only forever and never coached. But the truth is, I suck at a lot of things, like a LOT. But teaching? Coaching? That's my superpower. I love breaking things down for people in ways they can digest and hook onto. And I love bringing out the best in people - especially when they don't believe at first they have it in them.
